IMPORTANT NOTICE

As and from Friday the 15th of January 2010 all applications to the Environment Section of Offaly County Council for percolation testing must be in line with the requirements of the EPA Code of Practice on Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Systems Serving Single Houses (p.e. < 10). Please see the updated percolation test application form and explanatory notes.


There are a number of reasons for performing percolation tests.
To enable rural housing while protecting public health, surface waters, groundwater within Aquifer Protection Zones and areas of tourism, conservation and amenity.

To apply for a Percolation test in County Offaly please complete the application form. Submit this and the required documentation along with the fee of €550 to the Environment Section, Offaly County Council, Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

Please pay detailed attention to the explanatory notes as failure to comply with any of the requirements will result in delays in processing the application and in carrying out the test.

Please note: If for exceptional reasons you wish to postpone or cancel the percolation test a minimum of 2 working days notice is required. Failure to give adequate notice may result in a site re-visit fee of €200.00.
